Senator Oburu Oginga has appointed Amb. Dr. Renish Omullo as the Orange Democratic Movement’s Adviser on Regional and International Affairs, marking a significant addition to the party’s senior advisory team.

In a formal appointment letter dated November 11, 2025 and addressed to Dr. Omullo in Berlin, Germany, Senator Oburu said the diplomat would serve as a “key advisor” in advancing ODM’s external engagements and strengthening its global partnerships.

“It gives me great pleasure to formally appoint you as my Advisor – Regional and International Affairs, in my capacity as Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), effective immediately,” Oburu wrote.

The Siaya Senator, who also chairs the Parliamentary Energy Committee, said the appointment is anchored on Dr. Omullo’s extensive experience in diplomacy and international relations.

He noted that the new advisor would provide strategic counsel on foreign engagements and help shape ODM’s political and developmental outreach beyond Kenya’s borders.

“Your mandate will include providing strategic counsel, facilitating international engagements, and strengthening diplomatic and political partnerships that align with the party’s vision and broader national development goals,” the letter stated.

Oginga described Omullo as uniquely suited for the role, citing his wealth of experience and distinguished background in global affairs.

He expressed confidence that the appointment would add “immense value” to both his office and the party’s regional and international agenda.

The appointment comes as ODM seeks to consolidate its networks abroad and reposition itself amid shifting political alignments ahead of the next electoral cycle.

By bringing a diplomat based in Europe into its advisory team, the party appears keen to expand its external relations and tap into diaspora networks.

“I look forward to working closely with you as we continue to build a stronger, more connected, and progressive movement,” Oginga said in his concluding remarks.

Omullo, a diplomat with international experience in Europe and Africa, has been active in diaspora mobilization and policy advocacy, particularly in areas touching on Kenya’s foreign relations and diaspora engagement.

The new role places her at the centre of ODM’s external strategy, as the party leadership moves to reinforce its ideological and diplomatic positioning both regionally and globally.
